On Sunday, May 1st, Over 300 walkers gathered for the 3rd Annual Ronald D. Paul Companies Prince George’s County Kidney Walk at The Mall at Prince Georges! The purpose of the event was to raise awareness of kidney disease and the kidney donor program. It's was also an opportunity for patients, transplant recipients, organ donors, family, friends, groups and businesses to come together to support the millions of people with chronic kidney disease.
Several dignitaries were on hand for the Walk. Brother Glenn F. Ivey, of Venable LLP, and Former State’s Attorney of Prince George’s County, served as the Kidney Walk Chair! And Anthony Armstrong of the Washington Redskins is the Honorary Walk Chair! Congresswoman Donna Edwards was present as a Special Guest, along with Sam Ford of ABC, the Emcee, Ms Maryland, Tiffany Parker; and Miss Virginia Junior Teen Nyasha Sprow!
The event raised over $35,000! The Hyattsville/Landover (MD) Alumni Chapter’s team was one of the top two teams raising the most in donations, raising over $1,500 - which earned us membership in the Kidney All-Star Club! In addition, the Chapter was provided a free lunch, courtesy of the Outback Restaurant at the Mall. Chapter members also participated in the walk and the other activities sponsored by the National Kidney Foundation.
