This week documents were released by the White House revealing answers to questions posed to Judge Soyomayer in the past as well as blurbs from some of her old speeches in different forums. Will these help/hurt her confirmation later this year? How will this information be used to support or detract from her conformation?
Already we are seeing opposing views about her views on subjects such as race/ethnicity, abortion, etc. I think that it is useful to know but not always right to use a person's words from years ago. At some point we must realize that people grow and their thinking changes and grows as well. Do you think like you did or view everything the same as you did 5 years ago? Well, alright, some things don't change and we stand on those opinions. However, some do as life brings on changes, new experiences, etc.
Is it so important that she is Puerto Rican from NYC (homegirl) or that she is an accomplished legal mind that will hopefully bring some freshness to the Supreme Court (for many years)? Maybe that's what we need...a voice bellowing from behind the Capitol building pushing/prodding our elected representatives to do the right thing for ALL PEOPLE, ALL THE TIME.
What are your views about her? Do you think that she will be nominated?
I'm waiting for the mud
